In a quiet San Antonio neighborhood on the Southeast Side, a dispute between neighbors escalated into a fatal encounter on the afternoon of Thursday, March 5, 2026. Jose Reyes, a 28-year-old man, was leaving his home in the 200 block of Lyric Avenue with a 30-year-old woman when gunfire erupted. Reyes was struck by multiple bullets and tragically died at the scene.
The woman with him was also wounded, suffering a gunshot to her upper body, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The shots were fired from the neighboring property, allegedly by 24-year-old Noah Flores. According to police, the gunfire pierced a fence that separated the two homes. Investigators are looking into whether there was an ongoing feud between Flores and the victims. A family member of Flores reportedly took the gun from his hands after the shooting. When San Antonio police officers, who had been called to the scene for a disturbance involving a man with a gun, arrived at approximately 12:40 p.m., Flores surrendered without further incident.
Following the incident, Noah Flores was taken into custody and has since been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled Jose Reyes' death a homicide, with the cause being multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation into the motive behind the deadly shooting remains active as detectives continue to gather evidence, including reviewing any available surveillance footage and witness statements.
