On August 1, 2007, the body of 21-year-old African American male Rome Leonard Ward was discovered in a vacant house on Townsend Street in Buffalo, New York. Ward had been missing for approximately a month prior to the discovery. His body exhibited signs of severe torture, including near-decapitation and the removal of three fingers.
