In Augusta, Georgia, a tragic incident unfolded that led to the death of 10-year-old Deangelo Roberson on April 21, 2026. The young boy was a beloved student at Jenkins-White Elementary School. The events leading to his death began when he was inside a car with his siblings.
While their mother, 27-year-old Deasia Lexus Williams, went into a convenience store on Gordon Highway, her three children, ranging in age from 4 to 10, were left unattended in the vehicle.
A gun was also left in the car, and tragically, one of the children gained access to it. It is believed that Deangelo's four-year-old sister fired the gun, resulting in the fatal injury to her brother.
Following the shooting, Deangelo was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries days later. In the wake of this devastating event, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation. Initially, Deasia Lexus Williams was charged with three counts of second-degree cruelty to children. However, following her son's death, the charges were upgraded to second-degree murder. The community, including his school, mourned the loss of the young boy.
