In the early morning hours of April 25, 2026, the life of 28-year-old Ezekiel "Zeke" Allyn Wysong was tragically cut short in a shooting in Muskegon, Michigan. The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of McIlwraith Street. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Wysong had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was quickly transported to Trinity Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
Following the shooting, a statewide manhunt was initiated for the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Dominic Pearcy. Law enforcement officials warned the public that Pearcy could be armed with a handgun and advised against approaching him. The search for Pearcy, which involved federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, concluded later that day around 6 p.m. when he surrendered to authorities in Jackson, Michigan. Pearcy was subsequently taken into custody and charged with open murder. According to the Muskegon police chief, Pearcy and Wysong were acquainted with each other. Home security footage from a neighbor reportedly captured someone identified as Pearcy entering the house on the morning of the shooting, and also showed a Toyota Camry that police had been searching for in connection with the crime.
Ezekiel, known to his loved ones as Zeke, was remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a vibrant personality. Originally from Wabash, Indiana, he had moved to Michigan a few years prior and had embraced his new home. Wysong had earned a degree in social work and was employed at Indigrow in Muskegon. His sister, Isabelle Wysong, described him as a "bright light in the dimmest of times" who was "unashamedly himself and knew no stranger." She shared that he was a loving brother who frequently sent her silly photos and videos. His family and friends are left to mourn the loss of a man who they say was a source of joy and positivity in their lives.
