In the late morning of Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the life of 38-year-old Alisa Shaquita Andrell Patton of Opelika, Alabama, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 10:56 a.m. at the Arbor Place Apartments located on Fox Run Parkway. Responding to reports of an active shooter, police arrived to a harrowing scene.
Patton was discovered inside a white Ford Explorer with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the responding officers, her injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m. by the Lee County Coroner. The vehicle she was in had sustained over eight gunshot defects and appeared to have crashed into one of the apartment buildings.
A suspect, identified as 27-year-old Marc John Love, was swiftly taken into custody at the apartment complex. An Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state trooper who was in the vicinity at the time of the shooting heard the gunshots and was able to respond quickly, apprehending Love at the scene. Initially charged with murder, the charges against Love were later upgraded to capital murder of a person inside a vehicle. He also faces a charge of certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. Opelika detectives are continuing to investigate the motive and circumstances that led to the deadly shooting as Alisa's family, including her six children, prepared for her funeral services in early April.
