On the morning of March 25, 2026, the quiet of the Arbor Place Apartments on Fox Run Parkway in Opelika, Alabama, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Inside her white Ford Explorer, 38-year-old Alisa Shaquita Andrell Patton was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The vehicle, riddled with over eight bullet holes, had crashed into an apartment building. First responders arrived at the scene around 10:56 a.m. and immediately began life-saving measures, but their efforts were in vain.
Alisa was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m.
A suspect, identified as 27-year-old Marc John Love, was swiftly taken into custody at the apartment complex by an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state trooper who was in the vicinity when the shots were fired. Love was initially charged with murder, but the charge was later upgraded to capital murder of a person inside a vehicle. He also faces a charge of certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. While the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, court documents have indicated that Love and Patton had a relationship.
Alisa Patton was a mother to five sons and one daughter. Her family and friends remember her as a vibrant person who loved her children dearly and was known for her hard work and willingness to help others. Funeral services were held for her on April 3, 2026, at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in LaFayette, Alabama, followed by a burial at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The Opelika community was left shaken by the violent and tragic loss of one of its members.
