A bright and hardworking young man, 15-year-old Noah Cheeseman, was tragically killed on the evening of March 29, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. The incident occurred around 6:32 p.m. in the 100 block of Dehaven Court at the Lafayette Square Apartments, where police responded to reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Noah suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to Riverside Regional Hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
Noah was a student at Warhill High School, where he was a proud member of the varsity football team. Remembered for his intelligence and determination, he was known to light up any room he entered with his humor and charisma. His family described him as a well-mannered and joyful young man whose smile and energy brought warmth to many lives. In the wake of his death, the community gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor his memory, with friends and family sharing stories of his kind spirit.
The investigation into Noah’s death led to the swift arrest of three male suspects. Eighteen-year-old Omari-Ahmad T. Martin of Williamsburg was taken into custody and is facing charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. Alongside Martin, two juveniles, a 17-year-old from York County and a 16-year-old from James City County, were also arrested. They face the same charges as Martin, with the additional charge of possession of a firearm by a juvenile. Both are being held at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a prior altercation between Noah and the suspects. The community has been left grieving what police have described as a "tragic and senseless act of violence."
