On the evening of April 1, 2026, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a sequence of events unfolded that tragically ended the life of 18-year-old Zykelon Ginger. What was initially reported as a traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Apple Street quickly revealed itself to be a grim scene of violence. Just after 8:00 P.M., officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department were dispatched to the location, where they discovered a vehicle that had gone into a ditch.
Inside
the vehicle, they found one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. As officers secured the area, a second shooting victim was located nearby. Both Ginger and the other victim, 19-year-old Otis Tyler, were transported by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, both young men were pronounced dead from their injuries.
The investigation into the double homicide moved swiftly. Based on information gathered at the scene, including an eyewitness identification, detectives were able to identify 19-year-old Keshawn Franklin as the suspect. Within an hour of the shooting, Franklin was located at a residence just a block away from the crime scene and was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to the Jefferson County jail and booked on two counts of Capital Murder.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, law enforcement officials have indicated that the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute over a small amount of money.
