In the pre-dawn hours of April 2, 2026, the life of Marvin Ray McCowen, a 42-year-old man, was tragically cut short in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The incident unfolded in the Hawthorne neighborhood, a community that has experienced periods of concern regarding gun violence.
Around 1:18 a.m., a 911 caller reported hearing a single gunshot, followed by a person calling out for help. Minneapolis Police officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 31st Avenue North and 4th Avenue.
