In the quiet community of Aiken, South Carolina, the life of 24-year-old Justin Ray Bryant was tragically cut short on the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2026. Deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Kedron Church Road around 5:43 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bryant with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:28 p.m.
An autopsy later confirmed that he died from his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting continued, and on April 15, 2026, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office announced the arrests of two teenagers in connection with the crime. Jamereon Griffin, 17, of Saluda, and an unidentified 16-year-old juvenile were taken into custody. According to arrest warrants, Griffin allegedly robbed Bryant before shooting at him with an AR-style rifle, while the juvenile is accused of firing a 9mm handgun at him.
Both teenagers are facing serious charges, including murder, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Following his arrest, Griffin was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center, and the 16-year-old was detained at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has stated that the investigation is ongoing and has been assisted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Saluda County Sheriff's Office, and the Ridge Spring Police Department.
