The incident occurred around 6:57 p.m. in the 1000 block of Muhlenberg Street. An argument began when Vazquez reportedly cautioned another individual about hitting his car while parallel parking.
The verbal altercation intensified as the two exchanged words from their porches, which were only a few houses apart.
The situation took a fatal turn when Vazquez approached the other individual, demanding a confrontation. At that moment, 43-year-old Luis Clavell-Gierbolini allegedly emerged from a house armed with a handgun and pursued Vazquez. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing Vazquez fall to the ground. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was rushed to Reading Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
