A sense of unease settled over a quiet neighborhood in south Lafayette Parish on the night of April 6, 2026. Inside a home on Loranger Drive, a violent encounter left 43-year-old Christopher Conners dead from a gunshot wound. Deputies from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the residence at approximately 10:30 p.m. following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival and entry into the home, they made the grim discovery of Conners' body.
