On the evening of April 8, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi, 18-year-old Joel Terrell was at a residence in the 900 block of Valencia Street when tragedy struck. Shortly before 9:00 p.m., unidentified individuals fired multiple shots into the home where several people were gathered. The hail of gunfire resulted in two individuals being struck.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, where they found Joel Terrell in critical condition and a female victim with non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Terrell succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Jackson Police Department is actively investigating the shooting. At this time, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Joel Terrell.
