In the late hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, the quiet of a street in Country Club Hills, a municipality in north St. Louis County, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When officers from the Country Club Hills Police Department arrived at the 5600 block of Gatesworth Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m., they discovered a grim scene. Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as 29-year-old Demetrius Wagner of St. Louis and Alex Taylor, who was also 29.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. The case is being investigated as a double homicide. Due to the nature of the crime, the Country Club Hills police requested the assistance of the St. Louis County Police Department, and their Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is now leading the investigation.
As of now, the authorities have not taken any suspects into custody in connection with the killings of Wagner and Taylor.
