In the evening hours of Saturday, April 11, 2026, Antonio Koolyy Brown, a 28-year-old aspiring singer, was fatally shot in southwest Atlanta. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the 1430 block of Desoto Avenue SW, in the vicinity of Perkerson Park. First responders arrived to find Brown suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The Atlanta Police Department promptly launched a homicide
investigation into Brown's death. As part of their investigation, authorities have released surveillance video of a person of interest they are seeking to identify and question. The individual is described as a Black male with a slim build, estimated to be between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall. He was reportedly seen with Brown before the shooting, wearing a black t-shirt over a long-sleeved white shirt, black jeans with prominent white writing down the back, and white shoes.
Surveillance footage captured the person of interest in the area both before and after the shooting. Investigators noted that after the shooting, the man was seen inside Perkerson Park carrying the black t-shirt and was later seen with a black backpack that he did not have previously. Brown's family members have stated that they recognize the individual in the video, mentioning that he had previously purchased items from Brown's clothing line. One of Brown's cousins noted that the man in the video was wearing clothing from her cousin's line.
Just days before what would have been his 29th birthday, friends and family gathered for a vigil to honor Brown's life. They remembered him as a talented singer with a bright future who was not involved in gangs or drugs. His family believes he may have been targeted because someone thought he was carrying money from selling his custom t-shirts and hoodies. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Antonio Brown. The Atlanta Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case and has offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. They are urging anyone with information about the person of interest or the events that transpired at Perkerson Park on the night of the shooting to come forward.
