In the late morning of March 15, 2026, a Sunday, the life of 23-year-old Eliseo Murillo was tragically cut short on a street in north Houston. Murillo was walking northbound in the 10500 block of Bauman Road when a vehicle approached. A person emerged from the car and opened fire, striking Murillo multiple times. The assailant then fled the scene, leaving Murillo lying in the street.
Houston Police Department patrol officers were called to the scene at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Murillo with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department were also dispatched to the location, but Murillo's injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators began to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Through their investigation, they were able to identify a suspect in the case. Three days later, on March 18, authorities located and arrested 18-year-old Ignacio Lopez. Following consultations with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Lopez was formally charged with the murder of Eliseo Murillo. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
