In the early hours of Monday, March 16, 2026, the life of 37-year-old Justin Damien Bailey was tragically cut short in his Lancaster, South Carolina, home. Deputies from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office were called to a residence on Thompson Road shortly after 1:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Bailey in his bedroom, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect within the household. Authorities identified 18-year-old D'Andre Azam Ivey, the son of Bailey's girlfriend, as the alleged shooter. Investigators believe a dispute erupted between Bailey and Ivey late Sunday night concerning Ivey's lifestyle. The argument escalated, leading Ivey to allegedly arm himself with a pistol and fire several shots at Bailey. At the time of the incident, Bailey and his girlfriend lived in the home with Ivey and Ivey's girlfriend.
Following the shooting, Ivey and his 18-year-old girlfriend fled the scene in a blue 2014 Ford Taurus. However, deputies who were canvassing the area located the vehicle on Thompson Road as it was heading back toward the scene of the crime. A traffic stop was conducted near the home, and both Ivey and his girlfriend were detained. The girlfriend has not been charged in connection with the incident. Investigators recovered a firearm from the vehicle that they believe was used in the shooting, along with ballistic evidence from inside the residence.
D'Andre Azam Ivey was arrested and booked into the Lancaster County Detention Center. He faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. During his first court appearance, he was denied bond.
