Carolina, Jason was a cherished son, father, and brother. He was a 1998 graduate of Lancaster High School, where he had been a gifted wrestler. For many years, he worked as a skilled auto detailer at Hughes Auto Group, a profession that aligned with his deep interest in cars, whether it was detailing or repairing them. Beyond his work, his greatest joy was his family and the time he spent fishing. He is remembered by his parents, Mack Harrison Shannon and Veronica Elaine Barnes Shannon, his brother, and his eight children: five daughters and three sons.
In the days following the shooting, a suspect emerged. On Sunday, August 21, 2022, 19-year-old Daquereun Pemberton turned himself in to the Lancaster Police Department. He was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with Jason Shannon's death. The community was left to mourn a man who was loved by many, with his funeral services being handled by Crawford Funeral Home.
