In the quiet borough of Mc Kees Rocks, Pennsylvania, the life of 20-year-old Mya Parker was tragically cut short on the evening of Friday, March 20, 2026. Just after 8 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to a residence on Singer Avenue following a report of a shooting. Inside, they discovered Mya with a gunshot wound to her head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into the young woman's death quickly led to a suspect. Police identified 19-year-old Jayden Knight of Mc Kees Rocks in connection with the fatal shooting. In a startling turn of events, an officer found Knight at a bus stop across the street from the scene of the crime. According to police reports, Knight confessed, telling the officer, "I'm the one you're looking for, I did it." When questioned about the location of the firearm, he informed the officer it was in the room where the incident occurred.
Following this admission, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and recovered a 9mm handgun along with a single spent cartridge casing from the bedroom. Two witnesses who were present in the apartment at the time of the shooting reported hearing a loud pop and then the sound of the front door opening and closing. They discovered Mya in the bedroom, bleeding from her head. It was revealed that Mya had been staying at the residence for a couple of months.
Jayden Knight was taken into custody and has been charged with criminal homicide. He is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail as he awaits his preliminary hearing, which has been scheduled for April 8.
