Brewington, a victim of a fatal shooting.
Raynard Snow Brewington, a man who had dedicated his life to caring for others, was born on October 20, 1982, in Montgomery, Alabama. After graduating high school at the age of 16, he served in the U.S. Army, where he discovered a passion for the medical field. This led him to a career as a traveling Registered Nurse and Operating Room Technician, a profession that allowed him to bring healing and comfort to communities far and wide. He was a father of five children.
The investigation into his death quickly developed, as detectives interviewed neighbors and reviewed evidence from the scene. Their investigation, which included an analysis of mobile phone records, pointed to 42-year-old Brian Vincemichael Ashford of Camden. According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, Ashford had traveled to Lexington County in the early morning hours and shot Raynard Brewington near his apartment door.
The motive for the tragic incident appeared to stem from a personal conflict. Investigators determined that Brewington and Ashford had been involved in recent confrontations after Ashford discovered they were both in a relationship with the same woman. Brian Vincemichael Ashford was arrested on February 25, 2026, and the following day was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. He has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
