In a tragic turn of events at a Chapin, South Carolina Bojangles restaurant, a dispute between two coworkers escalated into a fatal shooting. William McArthur Hicks Jr., a 21-year-old man from Neeses, SC, was identified as the victim of the workplace violence that unfolded on a Wednesday afternoon. An argument between Hicks and a fellow employee preceded the deadly encounter.
The incident prompted a swift response from the Chapin Police Department, who arrived at the Bojangles located at
566 Columbia Avenue. Inside, they discovered that Hicks had been shot multiple times. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, William McArthur Hicks Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement identified Warren Bruce Rumph Jr. as the individual who allegedly shot Hicks. Rumph, a coworker of the victim, was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Initially facing other charges, the severity of the accusations against him was elevated to murder following Hicks's death. In addition to the murder charge, Rumph was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was subsequently booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
