In the fading light of a Houston afternoon, a family's world was irrevocably shattered. Terribia Dembry, a 52-year-old man, was fatally shot on February 24, 2026, in what appeared to be a brazen daylight attack. The incident unfolded around 12:55 p.m. near the Abby at Grant Road apartments in Northwest Houston, where Dembry was reportedly visiting a friend.
Witnesses reported seeing a small, black vehicle approach the area before multiple gunshots rang out.
Dembry, known affectionately as "Ribi" to his loved ones, was struck by the gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. His family, who rushed to the apartment complex upon hearing the devastating news, described him as a beloved grandfather. His sister, Tesa Dembry, recounted what they had been told, stating, "From what we know, somebody pulled up, five shots, and that was it."
In the days following the tragic shooting, the investigation led authorities to a suspect, Johna Robinson. In a bewildering turn of events, Robinson was released from the Harris County Jail on bond for an unrelated charge just hours before he was officially charged with Dembry's murder, sparking a manhunt.
The search for Robinson concluded on March 13, when he was apprehended in North Houston. He now faces a murder charge for his alleged role in Dembry's death. The case took another turn with the arrest of 42-year-old Samone Dionne Emerson. She is accused of hindering Robinson's arrest and tampering with evidence, allegedly attempting to conceal his clothing to prevent its use in the investigation. Both Robinson and Emerson are now set to face the judicial process for their alleged involvement in the events surrounding the death of Terribia Dembry.
