In the early hours of Wednesday, February 25, 2026, a quiet residence on the east side of Marion, Indiana, became the scene of a fatal shooting. Thomas W. Gray, a 74-year-old male, was found inside his home at 135 N 700 E by Grant County sheriff's deputies who were responding to a reported shooting at approximately 5:58 a.m. Despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Gray was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:16 a.m.
An autopsy would later reveal that he had sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Shortly after the discovery, a woman was taken into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting. The woman, identified as 67-year-old Sandra Gray, the wife of the victim, had reportedly contacted authorities from a nearby Love's Truck Stop. She allegedly called 911 and informed them that she had shot her husband. Sandra Gray was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Grant County Sheriff's Office for questioning.
The investigation into Thomas W. Sandra Gray has been preliminarily charged with murder in connection with her husband's death.
