On the evening of Saturday, February 28, 2026, a violent altercation in a rural area of Edinburg, Texas, claimed the life of 36-year-old Eliazar Gabriel Martine Jr. and three other individuals. The officers departed, only to be summoned back around 7:51 p.m. by multiple frantic 911 calls reporting gunfire.

Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the deputies, Eliazar Gabriel Martine Jr., along with Valente Trevino, 41, and Jacklyn Marie Ortiz Guzman, 33, were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth victim, 34-year-old Juan Luis Guzman, was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
