In Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on the afternoon of March 1, 2026, a distressing 911 hang-up call led to a grim discovery at a residence on Cimarron Drive. Concerned family members, unable to get a response from inside the home, forced their way in. Within the residence, they found 40-year-old Kinyatta Ringo-Wimbly unresponsive. She had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial stages of the investigation into the death of Kinyatta
Ringo-Wimbly began as a homicide case, with authorities working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. In the days following the incident, the investigation progressed, leading to the identification of a suspect.
A break in the case came with the arrest of Samuel Wimbly in Little Rock. Wimbly, identified as the husband of the victim, was taken into custody without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service. Following his arrest, he was set to be returned to Jefferson County to face serious charges. The charges filed against him include capital murder and possession of a firearm by certain persons in connection with the shooting death of his wife. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
