In the small city of Hazard, Kentucky, a life was tragically cut short on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, when 27-year-old Jason Ryan Huff was killed. Born in Hazard, Ryan, as he was known, was a cherished son, brother, and grandson. His life, however, ended in an act of gun violence. The circumstances surrounding his death prompted a swift and intensive murder investigation by the Perry County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation quickly led to a suspect.
The day after Huff's death, authorities took 43-year-old Danny Blue Asher into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. He was subsequently charged with murder. The search for others involved continued, and two days later, on March 6, 2026, authorities announced further developments in the case.
Two more individuals were arrested and faced charges related to Huff's death. Brian Smith, 49, was charged with murder, and 37-year-old Miranda Cat Connor was charged with hindering apprehension.
