In the early morning hours of March 7, 2026, a beloved security guard and former football player, Jordan Alexander Jones, 28, was tragically killed in Acworth, Georgia. Jones was working security at the Saddle Bar on Cowan Road when he intervened in a fight that broke out after the bar had closed for the night. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the establishment.
Witnesses reported that Jones stepped in to de-escalate a confrontation and protect a woman who was being assaulted. After Jones intervened, the alleged assailant, identified as 25-year-old Daniel Di Vonne Parsons, reportedly retrieved a firearm and shot Jones. Officers arrived to find Jones with a gunshot wound and rendered aid before he was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Parsons was located by police on foot near the scene and taken into custody without incident. He has since been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery and is being held in the Cobb County jail without bond.
