Dennis David Orr, a 51-year-old white male from Robbinsville, North Carolina, was fatally shot in the abdomen on October 26, 2014, while deer hunting near Hunt Road in the southwestern part of Cherokee County, Georgia. The man accompanying him on this fateful excursion was 41-year-old Christopher K.

Initially, the incident was treated as a hunting accident. Carver, the sole witness, was questioned by officers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. However, inconsistencies in his account of the events leading to Orr's death soon raised red flags for investigators.
