In the early hours of Sunday, March 8, 2026, the life of 16-year-old Keedon Lewis was tragically cut short. Known affectionately as "FatMan," Keedon was a student at Purnell Swett High School, where his humorous, enthusiastic, and clever personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was well-known in the Prospect and Rowland communities of North Carolina.
On that fateful morning, Keedon was attending a house party on Josie Lane and Kitchen Street Road just outside of
Rowland. Shortly after 3 a.m., violence erupted, and Keedon was fatally shot. When deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, they found Keedon deceased. The community was left in shock and mourning over the sudden and senseless loss of a young life full of potential.
In the days following the shooting, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office launched an intensive investigation. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to an understanding of the events that transpired at the party. Their efforts led to a significant breakthrough with the arrest of four other teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting. The arrests brought a measure of hope for justice for Keedon and his grieving family.
