In the early hours of Monday, March 9, 2026, the life of 27-year-old Anthony Watts, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. The fatal incident unfolded around 12:09 a.m. in the 600 block of Northpointe Parkway, where police responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Watts's body lying on the sidewalk between two apartment buildings.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting suggested that it was not a random act of violence but rather the culmination of an ongoing dispute between Watts and his assailant. Homicide detectives from the Jackson Police Department quickly identified a suspect in the case. Later that same morning, authorities arrested 42-year-old Patrick Harris in connection with the killing.
