On the evening of Friday, February 6, 2026, a fatal encounter unfolded outside a bar in the Briar Forest area of Houston, Texas, claiming the life of 42-year-old Maxie Worthy, a Black / African American male. The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Kirkwood Road. Worthy was standing outside the establishment when he was approached by two or three individuals.
An interaction between Worthy and the suspects escalated, resulting in Worthy being shot.
Responding Houston Police Department officers discovered Worthy at the scene with a gunshot wound. Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced him deceased at the location. The investigation into the shooting was quickly undertaken by the HPD Homicide Division.
Through their investigation, authorities identified 21-year-old Jordan Fobb as a suspect in Worthy's death. On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Fobb was taken into custody by the Westside Patrol Division Tactical Unit on an unrelated charge. Following his arrest, Fobb was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Maxie Worthy. The case has been assigned to the 209th Criminal District Court.
