On a seemingly ordinary morning in Palmetto, Georgia, the life of Eboni Anderson, a 34-year-old mother of three, was tragically cut short. On February 10, 2026, while making a DoorDash delivery at Palmetto Elementary School, she was shot and killed in the school's parking lot. The incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, was later described by authorities as a domestic dispute that escalated into a fatal act of violence. Anderson, a beloved daughter, author, and entrepreneur, was remembered by her family as beautiful, nice, and kind to everyone.
The man accused of her murder is Christopher Loris Ates, the 39-year-old father of Anderson's youngest child, an 18-month-old son who was present during the horrific event. School surveillance footage captured the moments leading up to the shooting, showing an argument between Anderson and Ates. The confrontation turned physical, with Ates allegedly assaulting Anderson before shooting her multiple times. The school was immediately placed on a hard lockdown, ensuring the safety of the more than 500 students and staff inside, none of whom were physically harmed.
Following the shooting, Ates fled the scene in Anderson's vehicle with their toddler still inside, sparking a high-speed chase that crossed county lines. The pursuit ended approximately 90 minutes south of Atlanta when the vehicle crashed in Houston County. Law enforcement successfully apprehended Ates and rescued the child, who was found unharmed. Ates, a convicted felon with a significant criminal history including a past conviction for armed robbery, was taken into custody.
Christopher Ates was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail and faces a string of serious charges.
