In the heart of downtown Houston, on a busy Saturday afternoon, a verbal dispute tragically escalated, claiming the life of 25-year-old Curtis Moore on February 14, 2026. The incident unfolded around 5 p.m. outside a Chipotle Mexican Grill on Texas Avenue near Main Street. Moore, who was known in the area as a food delivery driver, was on his bicycle at the time.
Witnesses reported that a confrontation occurred between Moore and another man, later identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Youngblood. Youngblood had allegedly been selling cookies on the sidewalk prior to the altercation. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the dispute began over something as simple as a glance. During the exchange, Youngblood, who was dressed in all pink, pulled out a gun and shot Moore multiple times.
Houston police responded swiftly to the scene and apprehended Youngblood nearby. Moore, who was the son of a Harris County Sheriff's Office sergeant, was critically injured after being shot as many as nine times. He was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, Nicholas Youngblood was taken into custody and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors have indicated that this charge could be upgraded following Moore's death and have requested that Youngblood be held without bond.
