In the early hours of a Saturday morning, the quiet of a Dallas neighborhood was shattered by a fatal act of violence that ended the life of 48-year-old Michael Ellegde. The events that led to this tragic outcome began to unfold on the evening of Friday, February 20, 2026, with a disturbance at a home in the 200 block of Freddie Street. Multiple 911 calls were placed by individuals concerned for a woman who they said was in fear for her life as her boyfriend, 19-year-old Isaac Amaya, was
reportedly beating on the doors and windows, trying to gain entry.
When Dallas police officers responded to the disturbance call, Amaya allegedly evaded them by jumping a fence and disappearing into the surrounding neighborhood. For several hours, his whereabouts were unknown. Later, a witness reported seeing Amaya hiding behind a vehicle and told him to leave. This encounter, however, was a prelude to the deadly confrontation that would soon take place.
Shortly after midnight, now officially Saturday, February 21, 2026, the same witness heard a commotion in the 120 block of Bridges Street. They then saw Amaya confronting Michael Ellegde. The nature of their interaction and what led to the escalation of the encounter remains unclear. However, the witness reported seeing Amaya shoot Ellegde. When police arrived at the scene, they found Michael Ellegde with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
