In the late afternoon of February 2, 2026, a shooting shattered the quiet of a Goldsboro, North Carolina neighborhood. The life of 28-year-old Demartquise Tiquez Swinson, a man from nearby La Grange, was irrevocably altered in the 400 block of East New Hope Road. First responders found Swinson with life-threatening injuries and rushed him to UNC Health Wayne. The severity of his condition necessitated an airlift to ECU Health in Greenville for more specialized care.
