In the city of Durham, North Carolina, a mother's life was tragically cut short in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide. Shakeva Dixon, a 27-year-old woman, was found deceased from gunshot wounds on February 3, 2026. She was a mother to three daughters.
Just twenty minutes before the fatal shots were fired, Dixon was on the phone with her mother. In the apartment where Dixon was found, police also discovered the body of 36-year-old Maurice Langston.
Investigators have identified Langston as the suspected shooter and believe he took his own life after killing Dixon. The two were reportedly a former couple and shared two children together.
The investigation into the deaths of Shakeva Dixon and Maurice Langston is ongoing. As the suspected perpetrator is also deceased, no arrests have been made in connection with this case.
