In the early moments of the new year, tragedy struck in Knoxville, Tennessee, when 60-year-old Barry Evans, a local man, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded just minutes after midnight on January 1, 2026. Police officers responded to a call in the 2000 block of Neyland Drive, near the University of Tennessee campus, where they discovered Evans unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to the UT Medical Center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
