In the late morning hours of Thursday, January 8, 2026, a fatal shooting in West Macon claimed the life of 33-year-old Kianna Quandrica Lashae Slater, a woman from McDonough. The incident unfolded at the intersection of Churchill Street and Brentwood Avenue, shattering the calm of the neighborhood. Slater was a passenger in a vehicle when she was struck by gunfire. Following the shooting, the driver of the car transported her to a Marathon gas station on Napier Avenue, where Bibb County deputies responded to a call just after 10:00 a.m. and found her unresponsive.
Emergency medical services rushed Slater to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office launched an immediate investigation into the homicide. The inquiry quickly led to the identification of a suspect.
Later that same day, authorities arrested 41-year-old Bobby Troutman in connection with the fatal shooting. He has since been charged with the murder of Kianna Slater. Troutman is currently being held in the Bibb County Jail without bond.
