On the evening of January 9, 2026, a fatal shooting in Stovall, North Carolina, resulted in the death of Ryan Ellington. The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. at the Stovall Family Dollar. Emergency responders were in close proximity and arrived on the scene within seconds to render medical aid to two victims who had been shot. Ryan Ellington was pronounced dead at the scene.
