On March 2, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Greensboro Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3700 block of Peterson Avenue in Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 62-year-old Robert Starr Pennix Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Pennix was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
