In the late-night hours of Saturday, January 17, 2026, the life of 26-year-old Elquan Tillman was tragically cut short on a street in his own Brooklyn neighborhood. Just a block from his home, Tillman was discovered by police lying face down next to scaffolding outside 134 Stockton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Officers from the 79th Precinct had responded to a 911 call reporting a man shot shortly before 11 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found Tillman with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
