On November 30, 2025, a violent double homicide occurred in the 1600 block of Northwest 9th Avenue in Amarillo, Texas, claiming the life of 42-year-old male Andy Wayne Curtis Galloway, Sr. The shooting took place on a Sunday morning and resulted in a significant police response, including the deployment of the Amarillo Police Department's SWAT team. Galloway was not the only victim in the incident; 18-year-old Chrisavion Deontay Green also lost his life in the same event.
The Potter County District Attorney’s Office became involved as authorities launched an investigation into the fatal shootings that shook the local community.
Born on June 14, 1983, in Amarillo to Sonia Galloway and Andrew Miles, Sr., Galloway was the oldest of fourteen siblings and a former student of Palo Duro High School, where he played football. Friends and family remembered him by nicknames such as "Dead Mouth" among peers and "BamBam" to his relatives. He was known for his distinct personal style, particularly his heavily creased jeans, as well as his love for weightlifting, boxing, and drinking sugar water. A father and grandfather, he left behind several children and a granddaughter, having been a protective figure within his large extended family.
Following the investigation, police identified a teen suspect, Tavon Lin Ammons, in connection with the deaths of both Galloway and Green. Ammons was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two counts of murder. The legal proceedings were set to be handled within the Potter County jurisdiction. Funeral services for Galloway were arranged by Golden Gate Mortuary, with a viewing at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church and a final service at Emmanuel Church of Amarillo in mid-December 2025.
