In the early morning hours of December 6, 2025, a violent incident occurred in West Dallas involving a 15-year-old Hispanic male named Eddie Mejia. Police officers responded to a call at Medical City Dallas Hospital on Forest Lane at approximately 5:08 a.m., where the teenager had arrived seeking urgent treatment for a gunshot wound. Preliminary investigations by law enforcement determined that the shooting took place near the 2500 block of Canada Drive, an area situated close to the Trinity Skyline Trail. Following the attack, Mejia was not transported by emergency services but was instead rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle.
For one week, the medical staff worked to treat the injuries Mejia sustained during the shooting. Despite these efforts, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead on December 13, 2025. Following his passing, the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office officially identified him—noted in some reports as Erick Eduardo Mejia—and the Dallas Police Department reclassified the case from an aggravated assault to a homicide.
As the investigation continued through late December, authorities reported that no suspects had been taken into custody. The individual responsible for the shooting remains unknown and at large. Law enforcement officials, specifically Detective J.
