On the evening of Friday, December 12, 2025, a violent incident unfolded in the Vistula neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio, claiming the life of Scott Hirschfield, a 70-year-old male. Just after 7:00 p.m., police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of North Ontario Street following reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, first responders discovered Hirschfield inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was urgently transported to Mercy Health St.
Vincent Medical Center for treatment, but despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 7:37 p.m., with the coroner’s office subsequently ruling the death a homicide.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation, initially reporting no suspects at the scene. However, by utilizing surveillance footage and witness accounts, authorities were able to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. Investigators determined that two men had visited Hirschfield's home that evening. According to court documents, the pair arrived together, and during the encounter, one of the men allegedly fired the fatal shots. Following the shooting, both individuals fled the scene on foot, leaving the wounded victim behind.
Three days later, on Monday, December 15, the Toledo Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with the murder: 21-year-old Marcus Vice of the 1700 block of West Alexis Road and 35-year-old Tywone White of the 1000 block of Marmion Avenue. The investigation indicated that White had accompanied Vice to the residence, but Vice was identified as the individual who pulled the trigger. Both men were taken into custody and booked into the Lucas County jail.
Legal proceedings moved quickly, and on December 19, a Lucas County grand jury indicted both Vice and White on multiple felony charges, including aggravated murder, two counts of murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault. Each count carried a firearm specification, adding potential time to sentences upon conviction. During their arraignment in Common Pleas Court, both defendants entered pleas of not guilty. A judge set bond at $1 million for each suspect as they awaited further court dates.
