On the evening of December 17, 2025, in Lexington, North Carolina, a tragic sequence of events unfolded resulting in the death of 25-year-old Kaitlin "Katie" Shelby Crook. A dedicated mother and an off-duty officer with the Lexington Police Department, Kaitlin had served the community for approximately one year after joining the force in September 2024.
