The quiet atmosphere of a cul-de-sac in Olivette, Missouri, was shattered on the evening of December 23, 2025, when police received a frantic call regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 8800 block of Chisholm Court. The caller, a mother, reported that her daughter was in the basement with a boyfriend and that a heated argument had taken place. The situation escalated rapidly when the mother heard popping sounds resembling gunfire emanating from the lower level.
Fearing the worst, she secured the door leading to the basement and waited for law enforcement to arrive at the scene shortly before 6:30 p.m.
Officers from the Olivette and St. Louis County police departments arrived and secured the home, announcing their presence at the top of the stairs before carefully descending to investigate. Upon entering the basement living quarters, they discovered a tragic scene. Two individuals were found lifeless on a bed: 20-year-old female Lolina Long, who lived at the residence, and 23-year-old male Golden Edmond of Florissant. Investigators observed that Edmond was positioned on top of Long and was still gripping a firearm. Paramedics responded to the scene but pronounced both individuals dead, confirming that the sounds the mother heard were indeed fatal gunshots.
Detectives quickly determined the incident was a murder-suicide, concluding that Edmond had shot Long during the domestic dispute before turning the weapon on himself. As the investigation unfolded, authorities revealed that the suspect had a documented history of violence. Edmond had been charged in October 2023 with two counts of domestic assault related to allegations of strangling and punching a girlfriend. Court records further indicated that he had failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing in September, just months prior to the killing. Because the sole suspect was found deceased at the scene, no arrests were made, and the case was closed as a domestic violence homicide-suicide.
