In the Dutchtown neighborhood of south St. Louis, the afternoon of May 4, 2025, was shattered by violence that claimed the life of 48-year-old Lachonda Valentine. A Black/African American female, Valentine was discovered inside her residence in the 4100 block of South Grand Boulevard, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the home at approximately 2:30 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they found Ms. Valentine, and emergency medical services were called to the scene. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead within her home.
Homicide detectives are leading the ongoing investigation into her death. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The circumstances and potential motives leading to the incident have not been disclosed to the public.
