On the evening of December 24, 2025, authorities in Houston, Texas, responded to a distress call regarding a shooting incident in the East Downtown area. Around 6:35 p.m., Houston Police Department patrol officers arrived at the 1400 block of Scott Street, where they discovered a wounded male individual. The victim, identified as 33-year-old Sebastian Jimenez, had sustained a gunshot wound.
Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department quickly transported him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Homicide detectives, including Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective J. Meister, launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. While Mr. Jimenez was found on Scott Street, investigators established that the actual shooting had taken place nearby in a parking lot located at 3508 Denver Street. According to police reports, an altercation occurred at that location between Jimenez and another male. The other man alleged that during the confrontation, Jimenez brandished a knife, prompting him to draw his own firearm and discharge it in what he described as an act of self-defense.
The shooter, whose identity was not immediately released to the public, remained at the scene following the incident and cooperated with law enforcement officials, providing his account of the events. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, authorities decided not to file immediate charges against the shooter. Instead, the case was referred to a Harris County Grand Jury to review the evidence and determine if criminal charges are warranted.
