Christopher Donshae Jackson, a 22-year-old male of Black ethnicity, tragically lost his life on October 20, 2020, in Houston, TX. Jackson was an innocent bystander who was fatally shot during an altercation at the DD Sky Club in Houston's Midtown. The incident occurred during an open mic night at the club, where a physical altercation broke out between a group of men and two armed individuals who had bypassed security.
The suspects, Demontae Lavon Williams and Le Dadrine Da Prea Hall,
both Black males, were identified as the perpetrators. Williams, aged 24 at the time, and Hall, aged 20, were charged with capital murder. Williams was later convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole. Hall's case is still pending.
The altercation began when Williams and Hall entered the club armed with handguns, despite security measures in place. They got into an argument with a group of men they knew, which escalated into gunfire. Jackson, who had no involvement in the fight, was struck and killed by a stray bullet. Another victim, 17-year-old Sir John Mitchell, was critically injured but survived.
The tragic loss of Jackson, along with the deaths of Jailyn Bernard Page, 19, and Bryce Lee Goddard, 21, has deeply affected their families and the community. The Houston Police Department continues to investigate the case and has urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.
