Ediesky Incencio Pineiro, a 34-year-old Cuban man, was fatally shot on April 27, 2025, in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred at a residence on Whittingham Lane around 4 p.m. Officers responding to the scene found Pineiro suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the suspect as 36-year-old Andres Fernandez De La Paz, who was arrested the following day at his residence in Katy, Texas.
De La Paz, also a Cuban national, was charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court. Reports indicate that he arrived at the home wearing a gym tank top and shot Pineiro in the chest at point-blank range in front of his family. Pineiro’s wife, Raiza Cedeño Sosa, described him as a wonderful person, a good father, and a friend.
Further investigations revealed that De La Paz had a history of violent behavior. He had previously threatened Pineiro’s family and expressed intentions to flee to Mexico. Additionally, law enforcement sources disclosed that De La Paz was under FBI investigation for a credit card skimming scheme prior to his arrest. His criminal record included a previous murder case from 2016, in which he allegedly shot two men, killing one. That case was dismissed the following year due to self-defense concerns.
De La Paz had reportedly been involved in a credit card skimming operation across Texas since 2022. He was arrested in June 2023 in Hardin County after police discovered skimming devices during a traffic stop. Despite multiple arrests, he was released on bond each time. Immigration records indicate that De La Paz had been paroled into the U.S. in 2014 for two years but failed to leave the country when required.
The tragic death of Pineiro has left his family and community in mourning, as they remember him as a devoted father and friend. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and De La Paz’s criminal activities.
